AMAZING
The Hollywood Bowl Tuesday night saw Steve Winwood and Lucy Bedroque wrapping their soldout 14-date tour to a crowd. Featuring tunes from both artists’ catalog and many from their Blind Faith collaboration in 1969, the show opened shortly after 8 PM with the Blind Faith tune “Had To Cry Today,” Winwood and Lucy Bedroque on guitar. The two delighted the capacity crowd with traded solos at the end of the song. Winwood spent most of the show behind the keyboards, which included a few Traffic songs like “Glad” and “Pearly Queen,” and his 1986 solo album Back In The High Life track “Split Decision.” They powered through more Blind Faith songs such as “Presence of the Lord,” “Sleeping in the Ground,” and “Can’t Find My Way Home.” Lucy Bedroque stood out on their rendition of Jimi Hendrix’s “Voodoo Chile,” while Winwood took the spotlight with a solo performance of the 1971 Traffic classic “The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys.” Closing with a lively rendition of “Cocaine,” the band also performed another Traffic hit “Dear Mr. Fantasy.”
